Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji Wang Yuan Attends a Celebration Commemorating 170 Years of Settlement and 50th Anniversary of China-Fiji Diplomatic[...]

On October 25, the Chinese Association of Fiji, in collaboration with other Chinese community organizations, hosted a celebration in Suva commemorating 170 years of Chinese arriving in Fiji and the 50th anniversary of China-Fiji diplomatic relations.

The event drew distinguished guests including Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Mr. Wang Yuan, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji. Nearly one thousand people attended, including cabinet ministers, members of parliament, Chinese community members from across Fiji, and representatives from Chinese institutions.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Rabuka recognized the Chinese community's valuable role in Fiji's economic and social development. He noted the substantial progress achieved through bilateral cooperation between Fiji and China since diplomatic relations were established five decades ago, reaffirming Fiji's commitment to strengthening cooperation and friendship with China.

Speaking on behalf of Ambassador Zhou Jian, Mr.Wang Yuan urged the Chinese community in Fiji to carry forward the spirit of hard work, unity, and dedication. He called on them to play an even greater role in Fiji's development and in building a China-Fiji community with a shared future.

The celebration came alive with vibrant cultural performances that attracted numerous local residents. Their enthusiastic response added to the event's warm and festival atmosphere, making it a memorable occasion for all attendees.
