Andie Gibson Selected as February 2026 Employee of the Month

Escambia County is excited to recognize Andie Gibson, Public Information Officer in the Community and Media Relations Department, as the February 2026 Employee of the Month. Gibson's selection was recognized with a proclamation during the Feb. 5 Board of County Commissioners meeting.

Gibson, who celebrates five years with Escambia County in August, is responsible for a variety of communication projects and priorities. In her role, Gibson writes press releases, social media posts, and other written communications to promote county programs and initiatives, in addition to keeping the public informed about county projects, road closures, public meetings, and more.

"Andie is such an integral part of our Escambia County communications team, and I am so proud to recognize her as Employee of the Month," said Kaycee Lagarde, Director of Communications and Public Information. "She works incredibly hard and truly cares about the work that we do, not only for the Board of County Commissioners and county staff, but also for our media partners and residents. Her dedication, positive attitude, and professionalism make her the perfect choice for this honor and recognition."

Gibson works closely with numerous county departments and divisions, ensuring effective communications both internally and externally. She has become a go-to person for many department requests submitted to CMR and has been recognized by her colleagues for her professionalism, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. Her positive demeanor extends to her relationships outside of Escambia County, always representing the county exceptionally well when working with elected officials and external partners.

As the county's Public Information Officer, Gibson has developed strong relationships with the media, responding to numerous requests from local, regional, and national outlets, which include requests for information, documents, and interviews with county staff or County Commissioners. She routinely serves as an on-call point of contact for media requests, responding after hours and on weekends to ensure information is provided to the media in a timely manner.

Outside of her role with Escambia County, Gibson serves on the Board of Directors for the Pensacola Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, serving as the Vice President of Communications and Digital Media. In this volunteer role, Gibson is responsible for promoting FPRA events and meetings on social media and via e-newsletters to chapter members. Through her efforts, she has brought new ideas to her fellow board members and elevated communications for the FPRA Pensacola Chapter.
