Area of Madison

The 4th Alder District includes the iconic Capitol Square and the upper blocks of State Street. It includes all or a portion of the following neighborhoods: Bassett, First Settlement, Mansion Hill, and Mifflin. Cultural institutions include Central Library, Kohl Center, Madison Children's Museum, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Madison Senior Center, Majestic Theater, Monona Terrace, Orpheum Theatre, Overture Center, Wisconsin History Center (under construction), and Wisconsin Veterans Museum. Parks include: Brittingham Park, Capitol Centre Park, Lakefront Porch Park, and Law Park.

Why did you choose to become an alder?

Public service and helping people inspired me to originally seek this position. I'm honored that my neighbors have placed their confidence in me to be their voice in City Hall for many years. I'm proud to have played a role in the development of downtown to where it is today.

What do you hope to accomplish in this role?

I'll continue to champion policies that increase the amount of affordable housing units, expand pedestrian and bike friendly mobility options, and ensure that Madison is a place where everyone can comfortably and affordably live, work, and thrive. Far too many in our community face difficulty securing safe and affordable housing.
