(Washington, DC) - On Monday, November 9 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join the DC Department of General Services (DGS), the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and community members to break ground on the $28 million modernization of Jelleff Recreation Center in Ward 2.
Originally established in 1931 as the Georgetown Boys Club, Jelleff has served generations of residents and remains an important part of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington's history. The new 19,500-square-foot recreation center will feature a new gymnasium, fitness room, multipurpose spaces, and a refinished outdoor swimming pool with an expanded pool deck. It will provide modern, accessible spaces for recreation and community programming while continuing Jelleff's longstanding role as a neighborhood gathering place.
This groundbreaking continues Mayor Bowser's commitment to delivering world-class recreational facilities across the District, with more than $640 million invested in recreation centers citywide since 2015, including nearly $45 million in Ward 2.
