The Sparks City Attorney's Office has announced that its prosecutor secured a conviction against Linda TAPIA, for Harassment, first offense, stemming from an incident that occurred on March 7, 2026.
On March 7, 2026, Sparks Police Department received a report of harassment. Law enforcement met with the reporting party, which disclosed she received threatening messages and repeated unwanted contact from TAPIA. The reporting party provided law enforcement with screenshots of the aggressive messages and phone calls from TAPIA. Law enforcement provided the reporting party with information concerning a protective order.
The reporting party also referenced a related incident of property damage that had occurred earlier the same day.
Later that afternoon, law enforcement contacted TAPIA at her residence to discuss the allegations. TAPIA admitted to sending aggressive harassing messages while she had been drinking with a friend. TAPIA had become upset after learning about an affair her husband was having with his co-worker. Thereafter, law enforcement cited TAPIA with Harassment, first offense.
On June 4, 2026, a Senior Assistant City Attorney represented the City of Sparks and secured a conviction for Harassment, first offense against TAPIA.
As a result of the conviction, a Sparks Municipal Court Judge rendered the following sentence:
Tapia will serve the maximum term of 90 days in the Washoe County Jail, suspended on the conditions that she has no contact with the victim and complete scheduled therapy sessions.
