Nathan Baines joins BD&P as Senior Counsel, expanding our ability to support clients navigating complex energy, regulatory, and cross-border matters.

Nathan brings more than 20 years of in-house and private practice experience, offering practical, business-focused advice on high-stakes issues. His work includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, regulatory compliance, and competition and anti-corruption matters.

His experience includes senior legal roles with Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil affiliates, where he advised on major energy and infrastructure projects in Canada and internationally. This includes offshore developments in Atlantic Canada and LNG projects in the Middle East. This global perspective helps clients manage complex transactions and regulatory environments with greater confidence.

Nathan supports clients across key industries including energy, oil and gas, renewables and energy transition, infrastructure, financial services, and technology. His focus includes regulatory investigations and compliance, low carbon energy development, and complex commercial agreements.
