Office of Community and Neighborhood Services to Accept Applications for Let's Paint Let's Renovate Program

Tuscaloosa, AL -The City of Tuscaloosa's Office of Community and Neighborhood Services will be accepting applications for the Let's Paint Let's Renovate Program beginning July 20. The program, which was started in 2022, supports low-to-moderate-income households by providing repairs or improvements to permanent, owner-occupied residences.

Program Eligibility

Homeowners must meet the following requirements:

  • The property must be within Tuscaloosa city limits.
  • The homeowner must be a legal U.S. resident, legal owner of the property, reside in the property as their primary residence and be current on mortgage and tax payments. Renter-occupied properties do not qualify.
  • The property must have active homeowners' insurance.
  • Total household income must be below 80% of the Area Median Income for homeowners.
  • For homes built prior to 1978, documentation of a prior lead-based paint inspection or lead abatement activity must be submitted with the application.
  • The homeowner must be enrolled in or have completed a Housing and Urban Development-certified Comprehensive Housing Counseling Program. To enroll, contact Ms. Latonya Braggs at 205-248-5080.


Eligible Repair/Renovation Improvements

Projects must address at least one of the home's major systems: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and/or accessibility. All repairs must adhere to Federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.

How to Apply

Applicants should submit a completed application along with all required documentation to the Office of Community and Neighborhood Services by email, mail or hand delivery. Applications will be accepted July 20-24, 2026.
