On April 20, Consul General Chen Li attended a China-U.S. local business reception in Philadelphia, joined by Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton and representatives from government and business on both sides.
Chen noted the Philadelphia Orchestra's 1973 visit to China, that one in three international students in Pennsylvania comes from China, and that China is Pennsylvania's largest source of imports. Citing the Chinese saying, "When people engage with each other in the right spirit, distance cannot keep true friends apart," he called on both countries to jointly address global challenges and encouraged businesses to strengthen exchanges, explore opportunities, and deepen their presence in each other's markets.
Speaker McClinton and CCPIT U.S. General Representative Zhao Jianying both spoke in favor of stronger China-U.S. business exchanges and broader market opportunities for both sides. Chen had in-depth discussions with the attendees, encouraged them to play a constructive role in bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and subnational exchanges.
