On the Meeting of Heads of Ports and Logistics Centers of SCO Member States
On December 18-19, 2025, the first meeting of heads of ports and logistics centers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held in Aktau, the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting was opened by Yerbol Izbergenov, Deputy Akim (Governor) of the Mangystau Region of Kazakhstan. Khan Sohail, SCO Deputy Secretary-General, in his welcoming remarks noted the importance of developing port and logistics infrastructure and enhancing the Organization's transit potential. It was emphasized that the SCO Concept of Cooperation in the Development of Ports and Logistics Centers, adopted in 2024, created a foundation for establishing a stable, specialized dialogue platform focused on implementing joint projects and exchanging experience in the port industry.

The business program included panel sessions on shaping the architecture of global transportation until 2030; developing "smart" ports and introducing digital and "green" technologies; attracting investments in logistics infrastructure; and improving the operational efficiency of ports and optimizing processes.
The participants visited the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk, where they familiarized themselves with modernization projects and the development prospects of transport corridors.
