Detroit, Michigan - October 6, 2026 - - Gilbane Building partnered with Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) to deliver a transformative new athletic complex at Communication & Media Arts High School (CMA). Celebrated with a ribbon-cutting event attended by students, families, alumni, District leaders, and community partners, the project marks the first completed phase of CMA's campus transformation and a major milestone in DPSCD's Facility Master Plan. The new complex provides students and the surrounding community with a premier venue for athletics, school pride, and community gatherings.

The new athletic complex features an eight-lane track and field built to national competition standards, a turf field for football, soccer, and lacrosse, modern bleachers seating more than 1,100 spectators, a press box, stadium lighting, dedicated field event areas, and a new scoreboard. Designed to support both school and community activities, the sports facility provides CMA with the ability to host regional track competitions and larger athletic events while creating a true home-field experience for the CMA Pharaohs.

"Projects like CMA create opportunities for students, strengthen community pride, and provide spaces where future generations can learn, compete, and thrive. Gilbane is proud to help DPSCD bring this new athletic complex to life."
- Amro Amro, Project Executive, Gilbane Building

The project represents a long-term investment in student success, school pride, and community engagement. As the first phase of CMA's broader campus transformation, the athletic complex provides students with a state-of-the-art environment to compete, connect, and create lasting memories for generations to come.
