Sen. Donzella James Announces ‘21st Century Community Forums for AI Progress’ Project

ATLANTA (July 22, 2026) - Today, Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Urban Affairs, Sen. Donzella James (D-Atlanta), announced the launch of the "21st Century Community Forums for AI Progress," a comprehensive project designed to bridge the gap between rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) technology and the needs of Georgia constituents.

"Artificial intelligence is advancing faster than public understanding, and we have a responsibility to make sure every Georgian has a voice in how these technologies affect our communities," said Sen. James. "These forums are an opportunity to bring people together and have honest conversations about how innovation can serve the public good. My goal is to ensure Georgia moves forward without losing sight of the people we serve."

The forum series will provide a platform for the Senate Committee on Urban Affairs to meet with constituents and stakeholders and discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence. Their conversations will focus on how AI is shaping government services, education and the workforce, while also exploring critical issues such as public trust and misinformation, privacy, workforce readiness, and responsible innovation.

The initiative will include five community forums held throughout the legislative interim, culminating in an Urban Affairs Committee AI Public Good summit this November. Feedback gathered throughout the series will inform future discussions and potential legislation on artificial intelligence during the 2027 Legislative Session.
