"Bullying Awareness Week is a time for all Albertans to reflect on the impact bullying has on individuals, families and communities. This year, we're helping Albertans determine what bullying is, recognize the signs, and learn how to respond safely and effectively.

"Anyone can help stop bullying. If you feel safe, check in with family and friends, help someone report it and speak up. Visit alberta.ca/bullying to find supports, learn more about what bullying looks like, how to prevent it and how to help others.

"Alberta's government is committed to preventing violence in all its forms. We continue to invest in programs that promote healthy relationships, respect and inclusion, and that support those affected by abuse. This includes more than $88 million for family violence and sexual violence prevention, and innovative programs that engage diverse communities, including men and boys, as partners in stopping violence and bullying before it starts. These efforts are part of more than $188 million invested in gender-based violence prevention across Alberta, advancing Building on Our Strengths: Alberta's 10-year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence.

"If you or someone you know is being bullied, please know that help is available. You can get anonymous support 24/7 by texting or calling the Bullying Helpline at 310-1818 or by chatting online at Alberta.ca/BullyingChat. Helpline staff can assist in more than 170 languages and will help you find the right supports for your situation."
