(WASHINGTON) - Teamsters in Tampa and Jacksonville have ratified the Florida Driver's Agreement, a collective bargaining agreement covering 49 delivery drivers at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. Members of Teamsters Local 79 and Teamsters Local 947 worked together to negotiate the four-year agreement.
"I am proud of this negotiating committee for staying strong at the table to secure this excellent agreement," said Jeff Padellaro, Director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference. "Their dedication and solidarity showed the power of the Teamsters in action. We fought hard to win this contract. It will now set the standard for the industry throughout the state."
Highlights of the agreement include a new Teamsters health plan, larger pension benefits, wage increases, and improved overtime pay. The members also saw significant improvements to paid leave.
"The drivers at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits showed the company their worth and were rewarded with a great contract," said Donny Connell, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 947. "This group is leading by example and driving up the standard for the entire beverage industry."
"Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this well-deserved victory," said Brian A. Rothman, President of Local 79. "By standing together, our members showed their strength and won a strong Teamsters contract in return."
The agreement has a common expiration date with the newly organized Lakeland, Fla., warehouse for additional bargaining leverage in 2029.
