MALAYSIA SECURES SAFE PASSAGE FOR ONE OF THE SEVEN VESSELS
IN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to confirm that one of the seven (7) Malaysian-owned commercial vessels previously stranded in the Strait of Hormuz due to the evolving regional situation has been granted safe passage and is currently proceeding to its final destination.
This positive outcome follows high-level diplomatic engagements, including constructive telephone conversations on 26 March 2026 between Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, and between Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, and his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi on 24 March 2026.
Malaysia remains firmly committed to the principle of freedom of navigation, safety and security of maritime passage, in accordance with international law. Malaysia also reiterates the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement in addressing regional challenges and maintaining peace and stability.
