#AdvocacyMatters: Voting Before Election Day

October 23, 2026 / #AdvocacyMatters

The November midterm election is less than two weeks away, and our team will be here to help along the way. If you plan to participate in the election by voting absentee, this article is for you!

Voting early or absentee means that you'll cast your ballot prior to election day, either by visiting your county's early voting site or by returning your ballot to your board of election through the mail or using a ballot drop box.

Early in-person voting continues through Sunday, November 1st. You can find your early voting location at https://www.ohiosos.gov/directories/early-voting-locations.

There's still time to request an absentee ballot, but that deadline is quickly approaching. An application for an absentee ballot must be delivered to the voter's county board of elections no later than the close of business on Tuesday, October 27th.

Absentee ballots can be returned to your local Board of Elections by mail or by ballot drop box. If you plan to return your ballot through a drop box, please know that only the voter can physically drop their ballot in the box. No matter how you plan to return your absentee ballot, it must be received by your County Board of Elections by Election Day at 7:30 pm. Note that this is a recent change - ballots cannot be received after Election Day. You can track your ballot online at https://www.ohiosos.gov/directories/ballot-tracking.

Disabled voters may choose anyone except their employer or union representative (or agents of those people) to return their ballot by mail or in-person delivery to the Board of Elections where the individual they select must complete an attestation form.

No matter how you plan to participate in this election, our team is here to help. Our Voter Hotline will be up and running the entire time the polls are open on Election Day. You'll be able to reach our hotline at 614-466-7264 or 800-282-9181 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Elecion Day. You can also find all our Voter Resources 24/7 at www.disabilityrightsohio.org/vote.
