New ReMA Member Spotlight: Export Computer Exchange

Based in Cedar City, Utah, ReMA member Export Computer Exchange (ECE) exports wholesale used electronics from the U.S. and Canada to mainly South and Central America, since 1997. In 2017, CEO Jen Holub purchased the company. According to Holub, ECE does everything in the process from the market research to sales to documentation to shipping to customs.

ReMA News had the chance to chat with Holub and learn more about the company, how they decided to join ReMA, and some of her goals for Export Computer Exchange.

Tell me about Export Computer Exchange.

Export Computer Exchange started in 1997 and in 2017, I bought the company. We focus on wholesale ready for reuse IT equipment, supporting the secondhand market. We partner with ITADs who have ready for reuse equipment so instead of breaking them down we take them to ensure they have a second useful life, are kept affordable, and out of landfills.

Since 1997, our philosophy has been to provide businesses with reliable, ready for reuse IT equipment that is both cost-effective and sustainable. We believe that choosing used items isn't a compromise-it's a smart choice.

When purchasing wholesale equipment, it's important to know that the products come from consistent, professionally managed sources. Export Computer Exchange works with organizations that follow structured asset practices, ensuring that the equipment we receive has been handled responsibly throughout its lifecycle. Our focus is to maintain reliable sourcing standards so buyers can trust the overall sustainability of inventory.

The devices we source typically come from environments such as government offices, school districts, universities, healthcare systems, and large corporations with regular refresh cycles. These organizations manage their assets under controlled conditions, meaning the equipment is generally serviced, monitored, and kept within defined usage guidelines. This results in hardware that has been used responsibly and maintained with greater consistency than most consumer-owned devices.

Before equipment is released to us, our partnership teams manage the removal of any sensitive data according to their established protocols and get the equipment ready to ship. Each organization follows the practices required within its sector to responsibly decommission its devices before they leave the country, ensuring the units arrive to us in a properly retired state.

Our goal is to ensure that the equipment we provide is dependable, secure, and responsibly sourced. By maintaining clear standards for how inventory is acquired and processed, we aim to support buyers with consistent and trustworthy offerings.

How did you hear about ReMA and how did you decide to join?

I have run into ReMA's booth at a lot of conferences, and I've been assessing which associations will be beneficial for the company with our long-term goals of growth. After a lot of conversations, learning more about ReMA, and talking with different industry friends and advisors we decided it would be a good fit. Everything I do is aimed at win-win, whether it comes to employees or the partners we work with-and the same goes for the organizations we join. I think joining ReMA will be a mutually beneficial relationship for us, the fellow members, and for the association.

What are you excited about for being a new ReMA member?

I'm excited about meeting more women in the ITAD space. I've been a woman in leadership for over 20 years and it's been an interesting challenge. I enjoy helping other women in the industry and connecting with women as well. I am also looking forward to making new ITAD connections, as we partner with all the time. I'm also excited about joining ReMA because it'll mean staying on top of what's happening with trade and tariffs around the world.

What are your short- and long-term goals for the company?

In the short-term, I'm working on making Export Computer Exchange an employee-owned company. I want the employees that are invested in the company to get rewarded for the investment they've made in the company. We are also finishing up the redesign of our proprietary software that should be launching in the next quarter. That project has been in the works for many years and I'm excited to see it through.
