Eskenazi Health wants patients to know their health system is a trusted resource regarding the new Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) Work Requirements.
HIP will implement work requirements for certain adult members ages 19 to 64 who are not exempt on Jan. 1, 2027. Beginning Jan. 1, 2027, the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) will enforce work requirements for new applicants and existing HIP members. To stay eligible for HIP coverage, members and applicants must complete 80 hours of approved activities each month. The approved activities include the following:
To help HIP members comply with the HIP Work Requirements, Eskenazi Health Patient Access Services has a team of licensed Indiana Navigators ready to assist. Patients with HIP coverage who may be affected by the new work rules shouldn't wait until Jan. 1. Those who want coverage to begin Jan. 1 are expected to have already met this requirement in October, November and December. Get prepared now. Please call 1.855.202.1053 to learn about the new rules, what they mean for patients and what patients need to do.
To meet HIP Work Requirements, patients have three options:
The flexibility allows patients to mix and match activities and income or to attend school/apprenticeship half-time to maintain HIP coverage. For additional information about the work requirements and criteria for exemptions, please visit the FSSA's Information for HIP Members webpage.

Please direct patients with HIP Work Requirements questions to Patient Access Services by calling 1.855.202.1053 or stopping by one of the following locations:
