Gillibrand Statement On President Trump Appealing Court Order to Fund SNAP

Nov 6, 2025

Today, following reporting that President Trump's Justice Department would appeal a federal judge's order to fully fund November SNAP benefits, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand released the following statement:

"To be clear: President Trump is appealing a court order to give hungry people money to feed their families. Americans across the country are unsure where their next meal is going to come from because of Republicans' government shutdown, and beyond simply ignoring his legal obligation to fully fund November SNAP benefits, President Trump is actively fighting against it. He is doing everything he can to make sure that hungry people can't get food while sending $40 billion to Argentina and spending $300 million to remodel the White House. It's absolutely unconscionable."
