Traffic Update Middletown Route 9 Nighttime Construction

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing nighttime construction operations on Route 9 starting Sunday night, May 10, through Wednesday night, May 20, 2026.
CTDOT Project No. 0082-0316 was awarded to Middlesex Construction at a cost of $50,426,231.20 on February 10, 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1, Rocky Hill, CT.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists should expect night-time lane closures and associated delays while traveling on Route 9 north and southbound in Middletown between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. All lanes will be open during Memorial Day weekend.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
