Registration opens for Therapeutic Recreation Program fall season

Registration is now open for the City of Colorado Springs Therapeutic Recreation Program (TRP) fall season, offering recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities from September through December.

This fall, participants with disabilities can choose from arts and culture, community outings, outdoor adventures, social activities, sports, fitness and aquatics. Offerings range from adapted rock climbing and cycling to dance, improv, archery, boxing, golf and seasonal excursions.

Several arts programs will culminate in the TRP Fall Performance at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10 at Hillside Community Center, 925 S. Institute St. Participants in Drum Beats, Mixed Emotions Dance Troupe and Improv Laugh Factory will have an opportunity to showcase skills developed throughout the season.

Outdoor and community-based opportunities include adapted indoor rock climbing at CityROCK, with sessions offered monthly from September through December; adaptive cycling rides in September and October; Glow at the Gardens at Denver Botanic Gardens; and a December trip to see "White Christmas" at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.

Sports and fitness offerings include boxing, golf, archery, boccia, Aqua Rehab and individualized fitness programs. TRP also offers programs specifically designed for participants with physical disabilities and participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Fall 2026 brochure, including the full program schedule, fees, eligibility information and registration instructions, is available on the Therapeutic Recreation Program website. Registration is first-come, first-served, and some programs have limited capacity. Participants and families are encouraged to register early at ColoradoSprings.gov/TRP.

Online registration is available for select programs. Some activities require registration by mail or in person at the Therapeutic Recreation Program, 1628 W. Bijou St.

The Therapeutic Recreation Program provides opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities to build skills that support participation in leisure activities and community settings. TRP also provides advocacy and support for individuals with disabilities participating in general recreation activities, along with specialized therapeutic recreation programs.
