Staubach becomes the fifth Hawk to earn the award since Monmouth joined the league ahead of the 2022-23 season and the first Monmouth rower to do so.
The award mimics the Chuck Boone Leadership Award in football and the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award in men's and women's basketball. One student-athlete, who represents the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship in his or her academic and athletic achievements, was selected in each of the other sports sponsored by the Conference.
"Sam embodies a rare and authentic form of leadership that extends far beyond practice and competition," said Hawks coach . "She is the foundation of our team culture, providing unwavering support, accountability, and care for her teammates every day of the year. Whether she is checking in on a teammate, creating opportunities to strengthen team connections, volunteering her time on campus and in the community, or setting the standard through her work ethic and commitment, Sam leads with both compassion and purpose."
Staff added, "Her impact is felt in every aspect of our program. She consistently puts the needs of others before her own and fosters an environment where teammates feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. Through her selflessness, integrity, and dedication, she has helped shape the culture and success of our team. Simply put, our program would not be where it is today without her leadership."
Staubach is a Health Studies major who carries a 3.26 cumulative GPA. She is a member of the Monmouth Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (MSAAC) and a three-time team captain. Staubach served as a Resident Assistant in one of the Monmouth dorms this year. She has done volunteer work with Kitten, Angels, Village Fair, the Polar Plunge and at a Food Bank for one of the local churches. Staubach has been named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll numerous times.
On the water, Staubach has been a key member of one of the Monmouth 8+ boats since her arrival on campus. This season she was in the Varsity 8+ boat for the CAA Championship, the Dad Vail Regatta and the Knecht Cup. Staubach rowed in the Club 4+ boat at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta and helped the Hawks qualify a boat in that event for next fall.
