Geosyntec to Acquire WRM Water & Environment, Strengthening Surface Water Capabilities in Australia

Established in 2003, WRM brings a team of 40 engineers based in Brisbane and Darwin. The firm is recognised for high-quality technical work, practical advice, and outstanding client service, providing trusted advice to clients in the resources, government, insurance, legal, and development sectors.

WRM works across Australia, advising clients on hydrology, flooding, and surface water management. The firm's core expertise is in the numerical modelling of flooding and water resources to support mine operations, infrastructure design, government approvals, insurance assessments, and independent expert opinion in legal matters. Its broader capabilities include stormwater and water quality management, hydraulic design, river engineering and geomorphology, erosion and sediment control, dam-related services, and environmental impact assessments.

WRM's surface water expertise complements Geosyntec's environmental, water, mining, geotechnical, and infrastructure practices. Together, the organisations will bring expanded technical depth and geographic reach while maintaining the trusted relationships and specialised service that WRM clients value.

"WRM brings deep technical expertise and a strong record of solving complex water challenges across Australia," said Majdi Othman, PhD, PE, F.ASCE, President and CEO of Geosyntec. "By bringing our teams together, we can expand the support available to clients and create new opportunities for our people across water, infrastructure, environmental, and resource projects. We look forward to welcoming the WRM team to Geosyntec."

"This is an exciting next chapter for WRM and a strong fit for our people and clients," said Greg Roads, founding director of WRM. "Geosyntec understands the importance of technical quality, practical innovation, and continuity of service. Our clients will continue working with the people they know and trust, with access to broader expertise and resources across Australia and internationally."

WRM's current team will continue serving clients through the announcement and completion process, and clients will continue working with their existing project managers, technical experts, and points of contact. Following completion of the transaction, the organisation will operate under the co-branded name WRM, A Geosyntec Company, for a transition period.

The transaction is expected to complete in October 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable approvals.
