November 2 - General Election Ballots Returned and Turnout Comparison: November 2, 2026
Denver, November 2, 2026 - The Secretary of State's office will send a daily update every weekday through Thursday, November 13 reporting the number of ballots returned and accepted for processing by County Clerks for the 2026 General Election. As of 11:59 PM on Sunday, November 1, 2026, 1,599,988 ballots have been returned statewide.
Today, the Secretary of State's Office is providing additional analysis comparing turnout at the same point in the election cycle for the 2024, 2022, and 2020 General Election. To date, mail ballots account for 98.5% of returned ballots - 1,575,743 ballots. Voters who have chosen to vote in person account for 1.5% of returned ballots - 24,245 ballots.
"It's fantastic to see that Coloradans are so engaged ahead of Election Day," said Secretary of State Jena Griswold. "Voting early helps County Clerks process ballots and report results quickly after polls close on Election Day, and I hope to see turnout continue to trend higher and higher in the days to come."
Voter turnout is highest among voters affiliated with the Democratic Party, with 49.4% of registered Democrats having returned their ballots. Voters affiliated with the Democratic party account for 31.1% of ballots that have been returned. Voters affiliated with the Republican Party account for 24.4% of ballots that have been returned. Unaffiliated voters account for 43.1% of ballots that have been returned. El Paso County has seen the highest number of ballots returned - 197,649 ballots.
