Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) student Carla Larson was recognized as a 2026 Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Student Ambassador during a statewide leadership event and awards banquet held April 15-17 in Wisconsin Dells.
Larson, a Supply Chain Management student at NWTC expected to graduate in May 2026, was one of 16 student ambassadors-one representing each technical college across the state-honored during the April 16 banquet, which brought together college leaders, business partners, and state representatives to celebrate student achievement and leadership.
The WTCS Student Ambassador Program recognizes students for their academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement, while highlighting the role Wisconsin's technical colleges play in preparing students for in-demand careers and strengthening communities across the state.
During the multi-day event, ambassadors participated in leadership development activities and connected with peers from across Wisconsin, building relationships and strengthening their role as advocates for technical education.
"It was truly an amazing experience," said Larson. "We were celebrated, inspired, and encouraged, but most importantly, we were seen and heard. I was also able to build meaningful connections with the other ambassadors in such a short time-something I'll carry with me moving forward."
"It's rare to have the opportunity to speak to a room of more than 200 leaders who are there to support your success," she added. "This experience sparked a sense of purpose and excitement I've never felt before."
Following the event, Larson will serve as a WTCS Student Ambassador for the coming year, representing NWTC and technical education through outreach, public engagement, and storytelling.
Larson was selected as NWTC's ambassador through a competitive process recognizing leadership, academic achievement, and commitment to personal and professional growth.
The program is supported by Baird, which has served as the sole sponsor of the WTCS Student Ambassador Program for more than 40 years.
