Men's Basketball Opens 2025-26 Season with Exhibition Game and Championship Banner Celebration

October 6, 2025, 1:00 PM

SIUE men's basketball will kick off the 2025-26 season with a special exhibition game on Sunday, October 26 at 1 PM, at First Community Arena. The contest against St. Ambrose marks the Cougars' first appearance of the new campaign and a historic moment as SIUE raises its first Ohio Valley Conference Championship banner.

The celebration honors the Cougars' remarkable 2024-25 season, in which they captured the program's first OVC title and became the first SIUE men's basketball team to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

"We are looking forward to celebrating our University's first OVC basketball title with the Metro East community, SIUE campus community and our FIND A WAY FAMILY," said SIUE head coach Brian Barone. "This accomplishment has been built over time and is a true representation of all the players I have had the honor of coaching in my time at SIUE. We are ready for our journey with this incredible community as we get ready to start this year's campaign."
