The Chief of Defence Staff, on official visit to Montenegro

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, paid an official visit to Montenegro on Tuesday, July 22nd, at the invitation of the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanović.

The two chiefs of defence discussed recent developments in the regional and Euro-Atlantic security environment and reviewed the of military cooperation status between Romania and Montenegro. The talks focused on cooperation within NATO, the development of military capabilities, joint training and exercises, and the enhancement of collaboration between the two countries' special operations forces.

At the same time, the discussions addressed prospects for enhancing cooperation within regional initiatives and ways in which the two armed forces can continue to contribute to strengthening security and stability in the Western Balkans.

During the visit, the Chief of the Defence Staff also met with His Excellency Viorel-Matei Ardeleanu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Montenegro, to discuss aspects of the regional security context.

The visit reaffirmed Romania and Montenegro's commitment to enhancing bilateral military cooperation and strengthening the North Atlantic Alliance's deterrence and defence posture.
