On Thursday, April 23rd, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Romania, H.E. Evangelia Lili Grammatika, at the MoND headquarters.
During the talks, Minister of National Defence emphasized the dynamics of bilateral relations and stressed the importance of enhancing defence cooperation, in the context of current security challenges in the Black Sea region and the Middle East.
The dialogue provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on recent developments in the regional and international security environment, with a focus on their impact on the stability of the European continent. In this context, both parties expressed their support for maintaining stability and security in the Western Balkans, and highlighted the importance of continuing joint efforts within the NATO and EU missions.
Minister Miruță reiterated Romania's commitment to strengthening the defence and deterrence posture of the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as to enhancing practical cooperation with regional partners.
At the same time, the officials reviewed the progress made in the development of military mobility and fuel supply projects in Eastern Europe, as essential elements for increasing the Alliance's resilience on the Eastern Flank.
In the same context, the two officials stressed the opportunity to enhance bilateral cooperation by developing joint projects in the defence industry. The importance of capitalizing on the technological and industrial expertise of both states was emphasized, including through partnerships for the production and modernization of military equipment.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Miruță and Ambassador Grammatika agreed on the need to increase collaboration in areas of common interest, including by coordinating positions within European and Allied frameworks.
