Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs welcomes the Vietnamese Emerging Leaders Delegation 2026

On 24 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed the delegation from Viet Nam led by H.E. Mr. Dong Van Luu, Vice Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Council, on the occasion of their visit to Thailand under the "Emerging Leaders 2026: Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Thailand - Viet Nam Diplomatic Relations." H.E. Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of Thailand to Viet Nam, Mr. Vorapun Srivoranart, Deputy Director General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, and representatives from the Department of Information and the Department of International Economic Affairs also attended the meeting.

Both sides welcomed the close relations between Thailand and Viet Nam, especially the recent historic high-level visits to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries this year. They also exchanged views on ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, with specific focus on local-to-local and people-to-people relations in accordance with the "Three Connects" Strategy.

The delegation also met with the Thailand - Viet Nam Friendship Association. Both sides exchanged views on friendly relations at the people level between the two countries, and the important role of the private sector of both sides in promoting closer economic partnership.

The Emerging Leaders program has been co-organized annually for 13 years by the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Its aim is to strengthen the bonds of friendship and understanding with emerging leaders from various sectors of Viet Nam.
