On Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at 7:26 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a report of a domestic violence related call at an apartment in the 10400 block of East Burnside Street. Officers arrived and began a plan to contact the suspect, an adult male. The man refused to come out, and climbed out a window onto the roof of the apartment building to get away from police. Officers surrounded the building and made efforts to de-escalate him, including using officers specially trained in crisis communication. He still refused to come down, and at 10:09 a.m., the incident commander requested additional resources, including SERT, CNT, K9, and the UAS (drone) Unit.

Police have isolated the area and there is no articulable danger to the public. However, traffic is affected on East Burnside Street between Northeast 102nd Avenue and Northeast 108th Avenue.

The PIO is not responding to the scene. Additional information will be released when appropriate. The incident number is 25-207621.
