SR1/US27 Hamilton Rd. Widening Traffic Shift

Motorists traveling on SR 1/US 27 in Troup County should be aware of a traffic shift scheduled for Friday, October 2, as construction continues on the Hamilton Road widening project.

Beginning at approximately 8 a.m., traffic will be moved onto the newly paved portion of the roadway, starting near Union Street/Fannin Street and continuing to the intersection of Hamilton Road, Main Street and Morgan Street.

The traffic shift will allow crews to continue the next phase of construction, which includes building two additional travel lanes and a median in this section of the project.

Motorists should use caution, follow posted signs and be alert for construction crews and changing traffic conditions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or field conditions.

WHEN: Friday, October 2, 2026, beginning at approximately 8 a.m.

WHERE: SR 1/US 27 from approximately Milepost 15.98 near Union Street/Fannin Street to the Hamilton Road/Main Street/Morgan Street intersection.
