Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a Turkish post related to the Muslim Minority in Thrace (14.04.2026)

We recall that the Treaty of Lausanne clearly defines the Minority in Thrace as religious.

Greece, as a European state governed by the rule of law, acts within the framework set by the Constitution, fully implements the relevant provisions of international human rights conventions, fully respects and protects the religious beliefs and the cultural characteristics of the Muslim Minority in Thrace, whose members, as Greek citizens, enjoy full equality before the law and the same civil and political rights.
