Bellflower Introduces Public Tree Management Ordinance

The Bellflower City Council has introduced Ordinance No. 1459, establishing a long-term framework for managing, protecting, maintaining and replacing public trees throughout the City. The ordinance supports a proactive approach to preserving Bellflower's urban forest for future generations.

The ordinance incorporates the City's Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) as its guiding document, providing a strategic roadmap for sustainable tree management. Together, the ordinance and UFMP will help preserve Bellflower's tree canopy, enhance public spaces and support a healthier environment.

Once adopted, the ordinance will make Bellflower eligible to apply for Tree City USA designation for the first time. Sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, the designation recognizes communities committed to responsible tree management and environmental stewardship while maintaining a healthy, vibrant urban forest.
