Delaware Credit Unions Engage Congressional Leaders on Member Priorities

The Association and Delaware credit unions had the opportunity last week to meet with two members of the state's congressional delegation.

U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester joined credit union leaders for a roundtable hosted by Dover Federal Credit Union at its New Castle branch. Credit unions thanked Senator Blunt Rochester for sponsoring the Credit Union Modernization Act and for supporting other provisions benefiting credit union members and communities as part of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.

As a member of the Senate Banking Committee, Senator Blunt Rochester encouraged credit unions to continue sharing their perspectives on legislation that could better support their members. The discussion included a candid exchange about the growing impact of affordability challenges and increasing fraud on Delaware families and the ways credit unions are working to help members navigate those pressures.

Delaware credit unions also met with U.S. Rep. Sarah McBride during a roundtable hosted by Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union. The conversation focused on several issues affecting credit union members, including affordability, access to housing, fraud prevention and protection, and the importance of financial education.

These meetings provide an important opportunity for Delaware credit unions to share directly with policymakers what they are seeing in their communities and how federal policy can help credit unions continue serving members effectively.
