EU agri-food trade surplus eases in November after October peak

Between January and November 2025, the cumulative EU agri-food surplus reached EUR 46.1 billion. However, this remains EUR 13.1 billion below the same period in 2024, largely due to high import prices. After a very strong performance in October, EU agri-food exports returned to more typical levels in November, while imports remained high.

The monthly surplus declined in November 2025, falling to EUR 4.1 billion. This represents a 35% fall from October's exceptional level and was 22% lower than November 2024.

EU agri-food exports ease after October peak

In November 2025, EU agri-food exports were worth a total of EUR 19.7 billion, down 10% month-on-month and down 2% compared to November 2024. Despite this, cumulative exports reached EUR 219.2 billion by November, an increase of EUR 2.8 billion (+1%) on the same period in 2024. As in previous months, export performance was supported by high prices for cocoa-based products and coffee, while cereal exports continued to decline due to lower overall volumes.

Imports remain high

EU agri-food imports reached EUR 15.6 billion in November 2025, up 1% both month-on-month and year-on-year. From January to November, cumulative imports amounted to EUR 173.1 billion, an increase of EUR 15.9 billion (+10%) compared with the same period in 2024.
