Secretary-General of ASEAN to Conduct a Working Visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil

At the invitation of H.E. Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, will undertake a Working Visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil, on 18-21 August 2026. During the Working Visit, Dr. Kao will engage with a wide range of high-ranking government officials and key stakeholders, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Mines and Energy, the Minister of Sports, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, the President of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, the President of the Federal Supreme Court, and the President of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, among many others. As part of his efforts to promote ASEAN's profile and visibility, Dr. Kao will deliver a lecture on "ASEAN Regionalism: Overcoming Challenges and Building a Community," at the Institute of International Relations of the University of Brasilia. In addition, Dr. Kao is also scheduled to meet with the ASEAN Committee in Brasilia, where he would brief the Committee on the latest development on the work of ASEAN and discuss the current state and future direction of ASEAN-Brazil Sectoral Dialogue Partnership, as well as exchange views on the Committee's role in advancing ASEAN-Brazil relations. The Working Visit of the Secretary-General of ASEAN to Brazil this time will be an important opportunity to promote the ASEAN-Brazil Sectoral Dialogue Partnership by highlighting positive engagements between ASEAN and Brazil and reaffirming their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the years ahead.
