2025 COUNTY POPULATION ESTIMATES RELEASED

March 27, 2026. The U.S. Census Bureau released its county-level Vintage 2025 Population Estimates on March 26, 2026. The release contained population data for 2020 to 2025.

Between July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2025 the state population declined at an average rate of 0.3% per year. For the counties, Honolulu County's and Maui County's population declined at an average rate of 0.5% per year. Hawaii County's population grew by 0.9% on average per year and Kauai County's population grew by an average rate of 0.1% per year.

On July 1, 2025, 69.0% of the state's total population lived in Honolulu County. Hawaii County accounted for 14.7% and Maui County made up 11.2%. Kauai County's population was 5.1% of the state population.

Data in this release also include components of population changes and data for metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas. Hawaii data are all available on our Population Estimates webpage.
