Rep. Liccardo on SCOTUS Blocking Trump Tariffs: “Finally”

WASHINGTON, D.C., - Today, in a landmark 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that he exceeded his authority when imposing sweeping tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Rep. Sam Liccardo released the following statement:

"Everyone has known from day one that these tariffs would not survive constitutional scrutiny. While congressional Democrats and a small handful of Republicans fought to overturn them, corporate America quietly hoped for their invalidation. Now, the shareholders of every company racing to the U.S. Court of International Trade to seek tariff refunds should ask their executives why they couldn't find the courage to speak up about the damage that this Administration has wrought to our economy and to America's standing in the world. This authoritarian dumpster fire has one source of fuel: the capitulation of the powerful."
