CONSUMER ADVISORY: Georgians Urged to Discard Ingles Chicken Salad Products Sold in Blairsville

ATLANTA, GA - Today, the Georgia Department of Agriculture issued a consumer advisory regarding potential Salmonella contamination in chicken salad products prepared in-store at the Ingles supermarket located at 43 Hwy. 515, Blairsville, GA 30512. Consumers who have purchased these products are strongly advised to avoid consumption and dispose of them immediately.

The affected items include Rotisserie Chicken Salad and Gourmet Grape Chicken Salad sold in both the deli department display case and customer self-service cases, as well as pre-packaged products such as chicken salad sandwiches, croissants, pitas, and dippers.

Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can enter the bloodstream and cause more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections (e.g., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.

Individuals who have consumed the chicken salad and are experiencing symptoms of illness are urged to seek medical attention immediately. Consumers experiencing symptoms should contact the Georgia Department of Public Health at 1-866-PUB-HLTH (1-866-782-4584).
