Clerk López response to SCOTUS allowing order curbing mail-in voting

Clerk Paul López issued the following statement on today's Supreme Court ruling, allowing President Trump to continue carrying out parts of an executive order aimed at curbing mail-in voting.

"Today's Supreme Court ruling is nothing more than a supposedly independent body bending to political pressure. It does not rule on the legality of the Executive Order to restrict mail in ballots, just the timing of it. The Constitution is crystal clear - states run elections from start to finish, and no federal entity, including the president the U.S. Post Office, can interfere in that. No matter how much this president, who himself votes by mail, wants the federal government to run elections, the law simply and clearly does not allow it."
