Though 2026 is just a few months old, ReMA's Safety Team has hit the ground running by rolling out new safety materials and resources for members. Below are several offerings that are now available:
The ReMA Safety team unveiled the first part of the New Employee Orientation (NEO) opens in a new tabseries on ReMA's website. This program is designed to support both new team members and their managers. The series includesconcise, engaging video lessons, along with practical tools such as manager guides, quizzes, discussion questions, and additional resources to reinforce learning. It is intended to provide a strong foundation for onboarding while encouraging meaningful conversations and consistent training practices across member organizations.
An industrial athlete is a worker whose job demands physical skill, repetitive movement, and sustained awareness of their surroundings. Because many tasks are repetitive, workers can slip into autopilot mode, which increases the risk of strains, sprains, and serious injuries when attention drops. Just as athletes rely on protective gear and proper preparation, industrial athletes must do the same. Fatigue, hidden injuries, and poor readiness don't just affect one person; they impact the entire team. The module reinforces that readiness is a shared responsibility and that speaking up, reporting discomfort early, and using proper PPE are essential to preventing injuries and keeping everyone safe.
Through funding provided by OSHA as part of the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, ReMA developed a series of training videos to support safety education in the recycled materials industry, with a particular focus on risks related to fires. The training resources focus on helping operations identify potential fire hazards and implementing prevention strategies. The training builds on existing industry safety research and previous guidance, including the ReMA Guide to Creating a Fire Prevention and Management Plan, and supports the development of safer workplace practices. All ReMA's resources related to fires have now been consolidated on the ReMA website.
