Electric Leaf Blower Rebate Program Assists with Transition to Cleaner and Quieter Equipment

ANNAPOLIS, MD (October 1, 2025) - With the arrival of fall, the City of Annapolis, together with the Chesapeake Bay Trust as an administrative partner, has launched the "Electric Leaf Blower Rebate Program." The program offers rebates up to $1,500 for lawn care and landscape businesses and up to $100 for residents to transition from gas-powered leaf blowers to cleaner, quieter electric models.

In December 2024, a City ordinance ( O-28-23 ) went into effect banning gasoline-powered leaf blowers within City limits. The penalty for operating a gas-powered leaf blower in the City is $100 (per leaf blower in use) for the first offense and $200 for the second/subsequent offenses.

"Landscape professionals, property managers, and residents play a crucial role in keeping our city beautiful," said Jacqueline Guild, Deputy City Manager for Resilience and Sustainability. "It is our goal to create programs, such as this rebate, that make the transition to environmentally sustainable practices as smooth as possible."
