They say everything is bigger in Texas, and CBP's March recruitment expo in San Antonio was no exception. Over three days, 517 participants came through the doors, submitting 495 applications-an average of 19 every hour. With a remarkable 95.7% conversion rate (the percentage of event participants who submitted applications) the event was a milestone in CBP's ongoing recruitment efforts, and the momentum isn't slowing down anytime soon.
US Border Patrol recruiters attended CBP's March recruitment expo in San Antonio. Over three days, nearly 500 participants submitted applications."Our mission is important, and we are determined to find individuals who are ready for challenging, meaningful work," said Bob Simpson, Executive Director of CBP's Talent Management Directorate. "Events like the San Antonio career expo are at the heart of this effort."
The San Antonio career expo provided an opportunity for prospective applicants to connect directly with CBP officers and agents. Attendees came with questions about applications, resumes, interviews, and what life is really like in the field. And, in turn, our teams shared their experiences, from routine patrols to complex operations, offering honest insight into the rewards and realities of the job.
As the nation's largest law enforcement agency, CBP employs approximately 67,000 people, with more than 80% serving as officers and agents. Their work protects communities, enforces lawful trade and travel, and helps keep threats out of the country. To meet evolving demands and growing global hazards, CBP continues to expand its workforce. This commitment to growth is supported by historic investments.
Last year, as part of the President's renewed focus on border security, CBP received funding that allows us to offer significant incentives for both new and current officers and agents. This financial backing helps us attract top talent and retain qualified professionals, advancing the Administration's initiatives outlined in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
CBP recruiters and employees welcomed more than 500 participants at the 2026 Recruitment Expo in San Antonio. In recent months, CBP recruiters have traveled to more than 26 states-including along the northern and southern borders-meeting potential applicants and sharing what it means to be part of the agency. They brought the same drive and enthusiasm to Texas, working long hours to make the event a success, energized by the strong interest and engagement from attendees.
Every day, CBP officers and agents show that dedication and professionalism matter. Their service is a reminder that it's not just what you do, but how you do it, that makes a difference. With grit and a shared vision of a safer, more secure nation, they continue to serve-and they invite you to join them.
