Shooting Suspect Arrested For August 2 Gunfire On Lafayette Street

A shooting suspect is jailed this morning on $190,000 bond for his involvement in the August 2nd shooting that injured two men on Lafayette Street. Jessie Knowles, 27, a convicted felon, was identified as one of the shooters that is seen on surveillance cameras approaching the two victims on the sidewalk before firing at them during a brief interaction.

The victims were both treated at the hospital for their single gunshot wounds.

Efforts are still underway to locate the second shooting suspect.

During Knowles' arrest yesterday he fled from TITANS Unit detectives. Marijuana and a stolen pistol were recovered from his backpack. The gun was the same firearm used in the shooting.

He is now charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and being a felon in possession of a weapon in addition to gun and drug offenses from his arrest.
