Lakewood City Council and statewide primary election is June 2

The June 2 Lakewood City Council and Statewide Primary Election is gearing up. Voter guides and Vote by Mail ballots have gone out to every registered and eligible voter.

Your Statewide Primary Election ballot will include candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, Member of State Board of Equalization, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, U.S. Representative in Congress, State Senator, State Assembly Member, as well as other local candidates, including candidates for the Lakewood City Council.

Lakewood voters in District 2 will elect a new council member.

As to Council District 1 and District 5 only, at the close of the nomination period there were no more candidates than offices to be elected. On March 17, 2026, the City Council exercised the option of appointing Todd Rogers and Cassandra Chase to the office for District 1 and District 5.

Check your Vote by Mail packet for information on drop box locations as well as Vote Centers near your residence.

Vote by Mail

Your ballot includes a return envelope with prepaid postage.

Just fill out your ballot and drop it in the mail.

Be sure it's postmarked on or before Election Day.

Use a secure official Drop Box in Lakewood

Drop Boxes in Lakewood are open 24 hours a day until 8 p.m. on Election Day at:

  • Angelo M. Iacoboni Library
  • CVS on South St. (Palo Verde Ave.)
  • George Nye Jr. Library

Ballots are securely collected regularly at each Drop Box by L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk staff members throughout the voting period.

Vote in person

In-person voting locations will offer voter registration, replacement ballots, accessible voting machines and language assistance to those who need it.

Open May 30 through Election Day:

  • Buena Vista High School - 3717 Michelson St. (Multi-Purpose Room)
  • Calvary Tabernacle - 5035 Hedda St. (Fellowship Hall)
  • Lakewood Country Club - 3101 Carson St. (Hacienda Room)
  • Lakewood First United Methodist Church - 4300 Bellflower Blvd. (Baker Hall-Gymnasium)
  • Lakewood Youth Center - 4658 Woodruff Ave. (East and West Rooms)

Hours for Vote Centers are:

  • May 23 - June 1: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Election Day, June 2: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
