Reflections on the 2025 Climate & Sustainability Leadership Forum

October 2, 2025

As Climate Week NYC unfolded this September, the world's attention turned to New York City. In the midst of this global dialogue, FINN Partners convened leaders, innovators, and changemakers for the 2025 Climate & Sustainability Leadership Forum. Over the course of five days, participants shared their approaches to climate, responsible business and social impact through virtual webinars, in-person mini-Summits and an overflowing reception.

A central theme ran throughout the conversations: gatherings like Climate Week and COP are essential, but their value cannot be judged solely by headlines. They succeed when dialogue translates into tangible, equitable action. Progress is measured by the commitments honored and partnerships formed, not just the visibility gained.

Speakers highlighted the hidden climate footprint embedded in supply chains, emphasizing that genuine leadership must extend beyond organizational boundaries. Tackling Scope 3 emissions, investing in ethical sourcing, and adopting circular economy models emerged as defining tests of credibility.

Every decision made at the supplier level has a ripple effect across entire industries, underscoring the importance of transparency and accountability.

Innovation was celebrated as the engine of climate progress, from reimagined products to equity-centered services. However, the Forum underscored that ambition must always be balanced with accountability. Without measurable outcomes, transparency, and inclusivity, innovation risks being more aspiration than solution.

Trust, too, was a recurring theme. In a world saturated with skepticism, credibility is the currency of trust. Overstatement or selective reporting can quickly undermine reputations, whereas transparency and authenticity foster resilience. Effective climate communication is not about spin but about aligning words with actions-and preparing leaders to embody that alignment.

The Forum also emphasized the human dimension of climate action. Employees, consumers, and communities are the ones who move ideas forward, and strong internal communications create a shared sense of purpose. Equity and inclusion ensure that solutions don't bypass the very populations most vulnerable to climate disruption. Planetary climate resilience is, ultimately, a form of human resilience.

Midweek, the energy of community came alive in person-to-person exchanges. At a reception hosted at the FINN New York headquarters, leaders from multinational companies, startups, NGOs, and the policy sector gathered. It was an evening that extended the importance of ongoing conversation.

Looking ahead, the Climate & Sustainability Leadership Forum revealed the urgency of the climate challenge and the creativity of those working to solve some of the pressing issues that impact sustainable business. Across every discussion ran a clear thread: innovation matters, but collaboration and authentic storytelling are just as vital in scaling solutions.

The success of this year's gathering is a tribute to its session moderators, panelists, partners, and the FINN team, which spanned four continents in participation. We are grateful to all who joined us, whether in person or online. Together, we can turn conversations into commitments and commitments into action.
