Free Parking is Back on San Anselmo Avenue

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Town Council Repeals Paid Parking on San Anselmo Avenue

San Anselmo, CA - September 12, 2025 -- On Thursday evening, September 11, 2025, at a Special Meeting of the San Anselmo Town Council, the Council voted unanimously to repeal paid parking on San Anselmo Avenue, effective immediately.

As a result, parking on San Anselmo Avenue has reverted back to free parking with a 2-hour limit. The Pine Street, Magnolia Avenue, and Creek Park parking lots will continue to operate as paid parking areas. All posted time limits will remain in effect and will continue to be enforced by the Central Marin Police Authority (CMPA).

This action was taken in response to feedback and concerns expressed by community members and downtown businesses during the three-month trial of the paid parking program.

The Town Council will next consider additional potential improvements to downtown parking at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. This discussion will focus on adjustments identified over the past three months to further support the community and enhance the merchant parking program.
