Joe Cascio has been a dedicated volunteer with PCACC since June 2025. After coming across an online post about public walking, Joe decided to give it a try-and it didn't take long for him to realize he wanted to become more involved. He quickly completed orientation to become a vetted volunteer and has since been a consistent presence, volunteering three to four times each week.
Joe is deeply committed to the dogs he works with, often walking them regularly to build trust and focus on their individual needs. He spends significant one-on-one time with each dog, helping shy pups come out of their shells and working on basic commands with others. The progress we've seen in the dogs Joe has worked with has been truly remarkable.
Beyond his regular volunteer hours, Joe has gone above and beyond by taking several dogs on field trips and even hosting overnight stays in his home. During our Pup or Treat event, Joe dressed up his all-time favorite boy, Max, in a tuxedo. Max stole the show that night, receiving plenty of attention and becoming a crowd favorite. While it was bittersweet for Joe, Max soon found his furever home-a testament to the love and care Joe poured into him.
Joe moved to Arizona from Chicago about a year ago after retiring from Ford, where he worked as a mechanic. He embraces Arizona's beautiful weather and spends much of his time outdoors. When he's not volunteering with our dogs, Joe enjoys working out, CrossFit, and attending classic car cruise nights.
There truly aren't enough words to express our gratitude for Joe's dedication and compassion. His hard work is evident in the confidence, growth, and happiness of the dogs he supports, and we are incredibly fortunate to have him as part of the PCACC volunteer family. He is shown with Alaric, who is available for foster or adoption!
