WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement after voting against the budget framework for a third reconciliation package:
"Gas is still $6 per gallon in California. The cost of groceries continues to rise. Eight million Americans have lost health care because of Republican cuts. An estimated $100 billion has already been spent on Trump's war of choice with Iran. Now Republicans want to give Trump and Hegseth more money for a botched war that is making life more expensive? It's a hell no from me.
"Republicans insist this funding is necessary to keep the Pentagon afloat, but they created this mess by allowing small men with fragile egos to drag us into a conflict with no strategic endgame. We are now fighting to reopen a strait that was open before the war began. This is madness. Instead of asking for more money, the administration must get serious about negotiating a way out and preventing further harm to our servicemembers.
"Americans do not want to see their tax dollars thrown at another endless war, they want to see them invested back into their pockets and communities. This America Last budget once again proves how out-of-touch Republicans are with the needs of their constituents. Democrats will keep fighting to bring down costs and make life easier for hard-working families."
