Welcome, Class of 2030

This fall, Trinity University will welcome 670 new Tigers to its sunny campus. Selected from 11,632 applications with a 28% admit rate, the Class of 2030 represents an impressive, well-rounded cohort who are eager to pursue their passions in San Antonio.

"We are welcoming another stellar class at Trinity," says Justin Doty, dean of Admissions. "Every year, our admissions team is inspired by the students who choose Trinity, and the Class of 2030 is no exception. This cohort includes truly exceptional academic scholars and students with a broad range of talents beyond the classroom. It will be so exciting to witness the contributions they make to our special community."

The Class of 2030 boasts a stellar academic profile with an average GPA of 3.79 out of an unweighted 4.0 scale, an increase from last year's 3.74. While Trinity still operates in a test-optional environment, 41% of the class submitted their test scores, presenting a mean ACT of 32 and a mean SAT of 1404.

Beyond academics, these incoming first-years will enrich our campus with their creative, enterprising minds. There are 165 recruited athletes who are ready to compete and show their Tiger Pride, and nearly 60% of the class participated in fine arts in high school, many of whom will continue to shine in Trinity's fine arts scene. Even before stepping foot on campus, one student has interned with NASA, another participated in an immersive exchange program in Morocco, and another has won world titles as a star trap and skeet athlete.

The class was chosen from 11,632 applicants, marking the third-highest amount in university history. This year, nearly 90% of the incoming class enrolled early to Trinity, with 27% of students enrolling through the binding Early Decision option and 60% enrolling through Early Action. This data, combined with Trinity's recent ranking of No. 37 on U.S. News & World Report's National Liberal Arts Colleges list, reflects the consistent growth in interest in Trinity among bright students across the nation and around the globe.

This year, Trinity enrolled 45 international students from 20 different countries. Despite the declining trend across the country with regard to international student enrollment, the number of accepted international students in the Class of 2030 remained relatively consistent with previous years, and the yield rate among international students was significantly higher. The Class of 2030 represents the highest number of international students in at least a decade.

While there are 29 different states represented in the Class of 2030, Trinity's number of applications among Texans increased by 11% this year.

"Because of the 'demographic cliff' and steep population declines seen in many other regions across the country, we are seeing many colleges outside of Texas heavily investing in recruitment efforts here," where the population is significantly growing, Doty says. The double-digit increase in students from Texas illustrates that students and families consider a Trinity education to be a very high value, and the efficacy of enrollment efforts in the state, he says.

Unlike many liberal arts colleges across the country, Trinity enrolled a 50% female and 50% male cohort this year for the first time since 2018. This is an encouraging trend as we see male college enrollment dropping to approximately 40% among undergraduate students nationwide. The gender gap is often further widened among liberal arts institutions across the country.

Lastly, the incoming class represents a diversity of races and socioeconomic backgrounds. Trinity's official partnerships with College Track, YES Prep Public Schools, and San Antonio ISD help Trinity's admissions team continue to show prospective students that, regardless of their financial situation, a Trinity education is accessible to them. This year, Trinity enrolled more than 20 new students through these three partnerships.

Trinity's Class of 2030 has already demonstrated its commitment to excellence. We can't wait to see what they'll achieve next as Tigers.
