UA Sets Enrollment Records

The University of Alabama set a new enrollment record this year, welcoming 42,360 students for fall 2025, a 3.7% increase. The freshman class boasts a record 362 National Merit Scholars, a 37.1% increase, reinforcing the University's status in the state and nation as a destination for high-achieving students from across the country.

Why This Matters: "The University of Alabama is defining the future of higher education - a student-centered university focused on creating leaders to serve current and future workforce needs of the state and the nation," UA President Peter J. Mohler said. "Our momentum is powered by students representing all 67 Alabama counties, with an impact that will continue to transform lives in Alabama and beyond."

UA Welcomes Rural Medical, Dental Scholars

The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences recently welcomed 11 students to the Rural Medical Scholars Program and the Rural Dental Scholars Program, both part of the College's Rural Health Leaders Pipeline.

Why This Matters: The pipeline was created to address the shortage of primary care physicians and dentists in Alabama's rural communities.

Real Estate Program Named for Birmingham-Area Developer

The Rance M. Sanders Real Estate Program, which includes an all-new undergraduate major and an existing minor in the Culverhouse College of Business, has been named in recognition of a discretionary $5 million gift from UA alumni Rance M. Sanders and Angie L. Sanders of Vestavia Hills.

Why This Matters: Over the last five years, Culverhouse has experienced a 300% increase in students pursuing a real estate minor. Students in the new major will learn to develop, purchase, sell, lease, appraise and manage real estate. The Sanders' gift will expand experiential learning opportunities that enhance their skill sets through real-world applications.
